Have you played in a journal-based game before? A little. I'm pretty new to it, though!

Character Information

General
Canon Source: Bleach
Canon Format: Manga
Character's Name: Momo Hinamori
Character's Age: Although she has lived for more than a hundred years, Hinamori is physically and mentally around 15 years old.

What form will your character's NV take? This watch phone thing that supposedly exists in real life, but I have never, ever seen.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:

Kidō
The use of spiritual energy to form magical 'spells' for healing, defense, or combat. Hinamori excels in Kidō, and while her spells may not be as strong as those cast by older, more powerful Shinigami, she stands out for her strategic and novel use of Kidō, combining simpler techniques into unique attacks. List of kidō seen in canon

Shunpo
The use of spiritual energy to move faster than the human eye can follow. (Hinamori's speed is at lieutenant level -- faster than most lower-ranking shinigami, but slower than captains and Espada.)

Zanjutsu
Hinamori's primary weapon is a Zanpakutō ("soul cutter") -- a shinigami sword which is a both a mirror of her own soul and spiritual power, and also a sentient being unto itself. Hinamori can use her Zanpakutō for both regular blade-to-blade combat and also (in its released state) to fire large exploding fireballs from its blade.

Hakuda
A close-combat, unarmed style of fighting in which high-speed bodily attacks are used to overwhelm the opponent. The Soul Society style seems to be a combination of several martial arts.

Weapons: Tobiume (Hinamori's Zanpakutō). In its sealed state, Tobiume takes the form of a regular katana with a light red handle and five-petal flower designs stamped onto the rectangular tsuba. When its true form is released, Tobiume's blade straightens and produces two jutte-like prongs.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: wiki link

Point in Canon: Between Bleach 101 and 103 (i.e. after being imprisoned for attacking Gin, but prior to receiving Aizen's letter).

Character Personality:

The most obvious aspect of Hinamori's outward behavior is that she is nearly always polite and kind. Her whole demeanor shows an unfailing respect for others and their own worries and cares. Of course, she expects the same kindness and care in return. This means that when she's hurt or worried, she cries, and when she's happy and excited, it shows in her whole being. She may try to hide her feelings to protect those around her, but it never really works. Hinamori wears her heart on her sleeve because she expects those around her will protect it for her, and for the most part, that's true -- her honesty, good nature and vulnerability earn her loyal friends and allies throughout her career.

That's not to say Hinamori is without a temper. Given that she expects kindness from others, people who hurt her or those she loves (or are simply rude to those around her) will earn her severe scorn and disapproval. Here, too, she doesn't usually think to hide her feelings, no matter that her anger may be inappropriate or even dangerous in a particular situation. But even harsh criticism is given with the best intentions, because she really just wants everyone to be happy and safe. She doesn't want anyone to get hurt.

Hinamori is almost entirely outwardly-focused, which means that she lacks a great deal of self-awareness. If she were about to die, her first thought would be, "Oh no, everyone will be so worried about me", but she might be oblivious of her own fear or anger until someone points it out to her. She often dives into things without thinking of the consequences to herself, and her concern is always for others' feelings rather than her own. Her lack of introspection can make her seem shallow or flighty, but to Hinamori, it's just that there are so many people more important to worry about than herself.

But deep down, the core of Hinamori's personality is her noble heart. She believes in always, always doing the right thing, even at the cost of her own life. She would agree wholeheartedly with Commander Yamamoto: "Dying to exterminate great evil... this is the spirit of the Gotei 13." If she believes she's right, self-centered reasons won't change her mind -- as when she chose to stay behind and help defend Shuuhei from a band of Huge Hollows despite the terrified protests of her friends (and her own obvious terror). Weakness and fear become mere obstacles for her to overcome.

In fact, when she is certain of her actions, her greatest weakness might be overconfidence, or rather, her reckless willingness to sacrifice everything in the name of right and to protect her friends, rather than taking the time to coolly evaluate the situation. She operates instinctively rather than logically, and it is far more difficult for her to think through exactly why she does and feels what she does than to simply act as she thinks best.

The greatest trouble arises when what "the right thing to do" is isn't clear to Hinamori anymore. Here, as after the death of her captain, her polite selflessness deteriorates into hesitation and self-doubt, as she casts around wildly for someone, anyone to tell her the truth, to assure her that the path she is walking is the right one (which makes her vulnerable to those who would manipulate her trust -- those who can, with a straight face and total confidence, tell her that murdering her best friends is the right thing to do). Because she acts from her heart rather than her head, she is especially prone to distractions and being twisted up by logical explanations.

Character Plans: Making friends! Rescuing people! Getting into trouble! (Giving Hitsugaya heart palpitations? Probably.)

Writing Samples

First Person Sample

[The NV goes flying across the room and flips on to show Hinamori in her new apartment, yelling at a greeter. Her voice is rising steadily, and she's now somewhere between screaming and tears.]

-- ANY of this! I don't WANT an apartment! I don't care how long for! I don't want your device, your clothes or your charity -- I just want to GO! HOME! Why can't you seem to UNDERSTAND that!?

[ There's a muffled response from the greeter, who can't be heard from the NV's position (since he's NOT yelling).]

But... WHY?! Why am I here? Why can't I go home? I don't understand...

[Hinamori's frustration boils over, and she brings her hands to her face as she starts to cry. The greeter leaves, and Hinamori slumps to the floor of her kitchen.]

I- I don't understand.

[The feed stays on. She'll just be waiting there until people start talking to her or she falls asleep, whichever comes first.]

Third Person Sample

Grass. Hinamori's fingers swept slowly over the dull blades. It tickled her neck; she giggled. There shouldn't be grass. There hadn't been grass for a very long time.

It had been years. Or... had it only been days? It felt like only a few seconds ago she had turned that corner and seen... How long ago had it been? Had it been hours... or... a week? Captain Aizen would know, she thought. Captain could come and tell me. This was all a bad dream. A nightmare. It had to be. How horrible her mind was, to do something like this to her. It had to be a dream. Please, just let me wake up...

Which is when she remembered the grass. The grass! She wasn't in prison at all! It had been a dream -- she'd fallen asleep out in the forests again, and had a horrible dream! Hinamori's eyes flew open in excitement. The sky was so pretty. It really must have been a dream, she thought. She nearly leapt to her feet and into the air, ready to shunpo as fast as she ever had in her life back to the 5th Division Headquarters.

But where she had expected familiar trees, she saw fence and dirty walls and cars rushing by on the nearby street. "Where--" The World of the Living? That was the only explanation for the cars. There weren't any in Soul Society. Good thing, too. She hated the noisy, unfriendly things. And they could be so cruel, too -- she had heard stories of humans losing their lives to cars. It seemed too great a risk to take, and besides, walking allowed you to meet people outside along the way.

But... how had she gotten here? Hinamori couldn't think of a single explanation that made any sense. "Capt--" But her captain wasn't here. Which reminded her... She began to worry again. Captain Aizen... She had to get home. What if... no, she couldn't think about that now. She had to get home. She had to be sure.
